Plain-language summary. Cents of Mind is a budgeting tool, not a bank and not financial advice. You connect your accounts at your own discretion, you're responsible for your account and the accuracy of your data, and the Service is provided "as is." The full terms are below.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and [Company / Operator Legal Name] ("Cents of Mind," "we," "us"). By creating an account, creating a budget, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Cents of Mind is a personal budgeting application that lets you connect financial accounts, view transactions, organize them into budgets and categories, and see spending insights, including optional AI-generated summaries.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
4. Your account
Sign-in is provided through Auth0. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
5. Connecting financial accounts
To use core features, you may connect financial institutions through Plaid. By doing so, you authorize us and Plaid to access and retrieve information from those accounts on your behalf, and you agree to the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. You represent that you are authorized to provide this access for the accounts you connect. You may disconnect an institution at any time.
6. Not financial, tax, or investment advice
The Service is provided for informational and personal-budgeting purposes only. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and we are not a bank, broker, lender, or financial advisor. Categorizations, projections, and AI-generated insights may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions and should consult a qualified professional where appropriate. Always verify balances and transactions with your financial institution.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) use the Service unlawfully or to access accounts you are not authorized to access; (b) attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; (c) interfere with other users; or (d) use the Service to violate any applicable law or third-party right.
8. Your content
You retain ownership of the budgets, labels, and other content you create. You grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to operate and improve the Service for you.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Cents of Mind and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties including Plaid, Auth0, Supabase, Netlify, and Anthropic. Your use of those services through Cents of Mind may also be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or their availability.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CENTS OF MIND AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS OR USD $100.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cents of Mind and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, we will update the "Last updated" date and may ask you to re-accept within the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. Governing law & disputes
